49ers Could Be Interested In Vick
San Francisco general manager Scot McCloughan was asked about the team's interest in Michael Vick on Wednesday.
"The thing about it, he?s got to be re-instated first," said McCloughan. "The guy has physical skills to play in the NFL, there?s no doubt about it. But it?s been two years since you?ve seen him on the football field.
"We?ll have to see how it plays out. We put a value on every player. Same with the draft, same with free agency, same with contracts."
He was then asked if the public reception would be a potential factor.
"It plays into it," said McCloughan. "Especially with what we?re building here, we don?t want to pull away from that and make an exception. Because we?re not one player away from winning a world championship. We?re a group of guys believing in each other, staying healthy and going through a full season, and getting through the tough times?
There?s never a player that I would just sit back and say there?s not a value for him to be on our team. But you?ve got to weigh the importance for the whole organization and how it affects the other 52.
